Community-Led Recovery Programme
Applications are now closed for the Community Led Recovery programme. You can keep up to date with the successful projects and programme below.
The Mayor of London launched the Community-Led Recovery programme to enable communities disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to shape London’s recovery and reimagine the city as fairer, greener and more resilient than it was before.
The programme consists of two grant programmes to support communities to share insights that relate to the 9 missions set out to steer London’s recovery.
Community-Led Action
Grants have been awarded to 15 community organisations to initiate social action projects which gather insights focused on the impact of COVID-19 on their communities.
London Community Story
Grants have been awarded to 20 community organisations with existing projects which capture Londoner’s experiences of COVID-19, supporting them to be presented and shared with a wide audience.
As part of the London Community Story programme we worked with a series of academic, cultural and community partners to develop Connecting Community Insights to Policy. This resource includes case studies from community collecting and research projects that shed light on Londoner’s experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic and examples of how these projects can be connected to policy and decision makers to influence London’s recovery. The resource will be updated as we progress through the London Community Grants programme.

We know that COVID-19 continues to have a profound impact on the lives of Londoners. All Londoners have seen their way of life severely disrupted – often with dire consequences for their economic wellbeing and their physical and mental health.
We have difficult weeks ahead for our city but with a vaccine now in place we are continuing to look towards the future and hope you will join us to through the Community-Led Recovery Programme.
The Mayor has convened and co-chairs the London Recovery Board to oversee the long-term recovery effort. The board has set out a missions-based approach to meet the ‘grand challenge’ for the programme to restore confidence in the city, minimise the impact of the pandemic on communities and ‘build back better’ the city’s economy and society.
The Community Led Recovery Programme will support the London Recovery Board’s nine Recovery Missions, with grantees working to share insights that relate to one or more of the below 9 missions:
